Start in Life is a project
aimed at the development of small businesses through training on
information technology run by the ORT-KesherNet GET-IT Centre in
Tambov, Russia. The training activities of Start in Life
are focused on the use of technology in the management of small
enterprises.
While the training centres focus is on young people between the ages
of 16-25, the centre has its doors open to all citizens of Tambov
interested to start their own business. They can come to the centre to
attend trainings or make use of the centres consulting services.
The ORT KesherNet GET-IT Centre is unique in Tambov prior to its
opening, young people in Tambov had no possibility of learning the
skills necessary to organise their own business. The Centre teaches
young people how to start, run, and develop their business, how to use
technology in their business, and how to distinguish which technologies
are best suited to their particular enterprise.
Today, the centre trains 60 people per month on site, and a further 20 people through its mobile classroom. Start in Life
and its training and consulting services are offered to both aspiring
and established entrepreneurs. The centre thus helps lay the
foundations for productive and steady employment in Tambov, helping
create sustainable businesses and income for various population groups,
but especially for youth. The Start in Life project has already contributed to the reduction of unemployment and the easing of social tensions in Tambov!
