JA-YE Romania GET-IT Programme, Romania

JA-YE Romania has been cooperating with HP for the past three years.  Here are some of the highlights of JA-YE Romania’s GET-IT activities during the  2008-2009 school year!

IT for Business as a programme implemented in schools

Image60 teachers sustained the program implementation, delivering activities through three different formats:
  • subject included in school curricula under the name “IT&C for Business”
  • supplement to current economics or entrepreneurship curricula
  • extra activities organised by teachers as educational circles.

2,320 students, aged 16–25, from 35 localities across Romania, tested the IT&C solutions proposed through the GET-IT programme in order to ease and to grow the effectiveness of their entrepreneurial activities.

GET-IT Trainings in Bucharest

In November 2008, JA-YE Romania organised a GET-IT Training of Trainers attended by 8 high school teachers, 4 students, and one international participant from the United Kingdom. In December 2008, JA-YE Romania organized a GET-IT Introductory Training attended by 11 university students.

Alexandru Sterian, one of the participants at the GET-IT Training of Trainers in November 2008, said, “Before attending the GET-IT programme, I used to think that these technologies are at hand and that I can show to anyone how to use them; afterwards I understood that things are not so simple. GET-IT was a milestone in my perception on education. I can say I was quite familiar with technology, but not with the best method to transmit it.”
