that had existed in South Africa since 1990. SLOT endeavours to help
unemployed out of school youth to improve their chances of employment.

world. Since its inception, some 10,000 youth have passed through
SLOT, with direct employment figures being over 40% compared to the
national average of 7%.
SLOT was recently certified as an HP GET-IT Centre. As part of the GET-IT trainings, experience-based learning will be facilitated in the classroom and rounded off with a mentoring programme piloted by experienced businessmen. Each year, 500 young people will be trained with the chance to become entrepreneurs. Those trained will have the opportunity to pass on their skills and build the capacity of their fellows, as well as relationships with businessmen in the city.
